INFORMATION & GUIDELINES FOR THE INSTALLATION OF RESIN TILES
RECOMMENDED INSTALLATION
Installation of all resin tiles should be done by qualified technicians. Special installation is required where the tiles will be subject to high temperatures, or when installed to be backlit. This product is not recommended for use in close proximity to direct heat from cook tops or fireplaces, areas subject to heavy impact, or heavy abrasion, high traffic floors and other pedestrian areas.

SUBSTRATES
All substrates should be firmly fixed, flat, clean, dry and free of contaminants such as dust, oil, paint, sealers etc. to ensure proper adhesion. Painted surfaces must be scuffed or sanded for the product and adhesive to bond correctly. Wet areas need special attention and require appropriate substrates, e.g. concrete, cement boards (compressed sheet), and/or treated plywood. The use of reinforced waterproof membranes is suggested.

CUTTING
The resin tiles can be cut with a wet saw using a diamond blade.

WATERPROOF MEMBRANES
Waterproof membranes prevent leakage of water through to the sub-floor framing and/or habitable spaces below. Particular attention must
be paid to carrying the membrane up the wall, outside shower boxes, installation of bond breakers and sealing around penetrations. It is strongly recommended that membrane systems be used in all wet areas. Some systems involve the use of a primer.

ADHESIVE
Follow the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions carefully. We do not recommend one brand of adhesive over another. Please check with your local tile supply store for alternative and comparable products.
The manufacturer's literature will explain if the adhesive product is suitable for interiors and/or exteriors, as well as walls and floors.

Latex fortified thinset mortars may have a hard time bonding to the resins. LATICRETE 254 Platinum relies on the fact that better mechanical adhesion can be achieved with this particular tile, or an alternative like LATAPOXY 300 can also be used.

We recommend using a clear drying construction grade adhesive or epoxy when using this product to be lit from behind. The use of a colored adhesive will show through the tile and may be visible. It is important that each tile is embedded firmly in the adhesive.

GROUTING
Generally grout is not necessary for the installation of the Resin tiles. For best results, we recommend a butt jointed installation. For some flooring applications, such as borders or floor accents where grout may become necessary, grout should be suitable for the type of joint that will be used. Non-sanded grouts are suitable for small joints (1/8"), or sanded grout
for larger joints. It is important to wait the interval recommended by the adhesive manufacturer before grouting to minimize dirt ingress between the tiles.

Care & Cleaning
SOLI Resin tiles must be regularly cleaned and maintained to extend the life and beauty of the tile. The tiles can be cleaned with warm water and a soft, damp cloth. To dry, wipe tiles with a clean cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, powders, scouring pads, steel wool or sandpaper. Do not let soap, bleach or other cleaning solutions set on the surface. Due to the sensitive nature of the tiles, we do not recommend cleaning with a mild soap or cleanser, as some of the chemicals may cloud the surface of the tile when the surface has dried.
